Here’s what we’ve been up to…

Impact

On the Blog
Let Yourself Be Supported
JJMF’s Executive Director and co-founder, Genny Jessee, is back on the blog this month with an encouraging message about letting ourselves be supported, even when it’s hard. Genny shares, “It isn’t lost on me that I now run an organization that provides the very services I resisted so much. I saw the power that connection has to help support a family…I want families like ours–families who feel like they are the “at least we aren’t” family–to have a place to turn. I want them to know they are not alone”. Is asking for or receiving support something that you struggle with? Read the blog here and let us know what has or hasn’t worked for you and your family.

Bookmarked
Included: A Book for All Children about Inclusion, Diversity, Equality and Empathy by Jayneen Sanders
Included by Jayneen Sanders takes you through the stories of six children with different disabilities. In a simple and engaging way, readers learn about specific disabilities and their impact on daily life in ways that are easy for children to understand. In addition to your child(ren), this would make a great gift for family, friends, and teachers, as well.

Community Support
Celebrating 8 Years of The JJMF!
On February 5th, the JJMF celebrated 8 years of serving families. Genny shared, “JJMF started as a dream that Matt and I had as a way of honoring June and the beautiful life she lived…Thank you to the families in our community for trusting us to walk alongside you on this journey. And thank you to our supporters for encouraging us to dream about a world where we can make a difference”.

Building Awareness
International Epilepsy Day
On February 12th we celebrated International Epilepsy Day to help raise epilepsy awareness, highlighting that more than 50 million people are living with the condition across the world.

Rare Disease Day
On February 29th we celebrated Rare Disease Day! Our team participated as a vendor at Washington University’s Rare Disease Day Symposium. It was a wonderful opportunity to hear from experts in the field and connect with families in the community.
