Newsletter November 2023
Providing relief and support to help children with devastating medically complex, neurological conditions and their families in the St. Louis area and beyond.
Here’s what we’ve been up to…
Impact
An Evening of Joy
We had a magical night at An Evening of Joy! Your astounding support enabled us to raise $240,000 to support children with medically complex neurological conditions and their families. Thank you to everyone who sponsored, bought tickets, bid on items, bought raffle tickets, and volunteered to impact our ability to serve more children and families greatly!
JJMF Family Video
JJMF is incredibly grateful to Tim O’Toole and the Poolhouse team for generously producing this beautiful video featuring the Harper family. Watch as George and Annie share what June Jessee Memorial Foundation has meant to their family as they navigate life with a child with a medically complex, neurological condition.
Community Support
Kelly Cervantes Book Tour Event
Co-founder Genny Jessee joined author Kelly Cervantes on her Normal Broken book tour stop in St. Louis. They shared a meaningful conversation on grief and resilience. Before the event, JJMF community parents and caregivers gathered for appetizers, drinks, and conversation.
Holiday Adaptive Toy Drive
The JJMF Youth Board collected unique sensory and adaptive toys for children with medically complex neurological conditions. All toys purchased from our wish list will be given directly to children at an upcoming JJMF Family Holiday Event.
On the Blog
Our November blog showcases our Holiday Gift Guide: Adaptive & Inclusive Edition! This includes 25 gift ideas for children of all ages. There is still time to add to your list before Christmas, check it out here!

Nothing is Missing: A Memoir of Living Boldy by Nicole Walters, is a book you won’t want to put down! From her early childhood as the daughter of immigrants, her unconventional journey to motherhood and her wild success as a self-made millionaire, Nicole beautifully shares her story of learning how to show up for herself and the importance of finding joy in the day-to-day.
Building Awareness
National Family Caregivers Month
This month we recognized family caregivers and their unwavering dedication, selflessness and love often go unnoticed. We acknowledged the vital role that they play in our families and communities. Thank you to all of our JJMF caregivers for making the world a more compassionate place.
Epilepsy Awareness Month
November was also Epilepsy Awareness Month, which allowed us the opportunity to acknowledge the 3 million people living with epilepsy in the United States alone.
